No settlement after first deflategate hearing in federal court

NEW YORK (MyFoxBoston.com) - Court is adjourned for the deflategate settlement conference at federal court in New York.

Each side will meet separately with judge behind closed doors.

FOX25 Sports Director was in the courtroom for the entire public hearing, which began around 11 and ended just before 1 p.m.

Judge Berman asked the NFL lawyer Daniel Nash about the wording used in the Wells Report "more probably than not that [Brady] was generally aware."

During the questioning, Nash used the word conspiracy, which Judge Berman asked him about

"There's a high bar. Have to show conspirators intended something unlawful to occur," Berman said.

After that it was the Players Association's turn to respond to questions from Berman.

 "We asked Ted Wells did you find anything beyond general awareness? The answer was no," NFLPA lawyer Jeffrey Kessler said.

Both sides exited the courthouse around 5:30 p.m. after agreeing not to speak with the media. They are expected to meet in court again next Wednesday, Aug. 19.
