BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - An Everett man is being held on $75,000 bail after being arraigned in connection with a brutal bat attack near the Garden on Halloween night.
Carmen Picardi, of Everett, faced a judge today in Boston Municipal Court. He was arraigned on several charges, including assault with intent to murder. About a dozen of his family members were also in court. The victim’s stepdad, uncle and cousin were in court for the arraignment, as well.
Police say Picardi was dressed up like a baseball player when he hit a woman with a Louisville Slugger, fracturing her skull on Causeway Street in Boston.
Investigators matched the 39-year-old's description to photos of Picardi from a Halloween party. Detectives found the suspect after learning about a costume party held the night of the incident.
All guests attending the party wore costumes and detectives were able to track down several photos taken during the party and found a suspect who matched the description given by witnesses. Officers learned the suspect’s name from a party guest list.
Police were also able to locate the wooden bat possibly used in the assault.
The 21-year-old victim from Medford suffered a fractured skull and is undergoing daily physical therapy.
This information was supplied by law enforcement. All persons are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
