NEW YORK (MyFoxBoston.com) - In a federal court filing, Judge Richard Berman said he anticipates ruling on the Deflategate case by the end of the week.
Berman will have to either affirm or throw out Goodell's decision in July to uphold Brady's four-game suspension.
After hearing the judge's words on Monday, many anticipated his decision on Tuesday, but a court filing after 4 p.m. seems to indicate it will not be that soon.
The NFL concluded the quarterback colluded with two Patriots ball handlers to deflate footballs to gain an edge in a 45-7 victory over the Colts. The NFL Players Association has accused the league of handling the discipline unfairly for Brady, who has denied any role in deflategate.
Both sides have asked for Berman to rule no later than Friday, Sept. 4 so it doesn't impact the regular season, which opens at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sept. 10.
