MALDEN, Mass. (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- A woman whose home caught fire on Monday is now looking to find the man who helped her escape the blaze.
The 2-alarm fire broke out in the upper floors of a two-and-a-half story home on Ashland Street at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, and displaced five people.
"I was sitting in the living room, and I heard my son yell, 'Fire! Fire! Get out, get out!'" Mary said. "At first I thought he was kidding, because he likes to kid around, but when I saw his face, I knew he wasn't."
Mary said a man came into the home to help, and saw her on the stairs, trying to make her way out of the house.
"I was starting to come down the steps, and I wasn't going fast enough for the fella that I guess came in to see if he could help, and he just about carried me out," she said. "I never saw him before. Thank goodness for him."
Mary is hoping that whoever helped her will come forward so she can thank him.
"It really could've been so much worse, because I have a hard time walking."
