DORCHESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are still searching for a suspect Tuesday after a 7-year-old Brockton boy was shot while riding his bicycle outside a Dorchester barber shop two weeks ago.
Police say, the shooter saw the little boy before pulling the trigger. The boy survived after being shot and he is now back in school, but police are still trying to find the shooter.
That's why Tuesday, our Bob Ward was the only reporter to re-trace this crime, step-by-step with investigators.
"I see him sitting there, bleeding, it's something I will never forget," Dijainira Deandrade said.
More than two weeks later, Deandrade still can't get the images out of her head. It was her 7-year-old, Divan Silva, who was shot in broad daylight on Bowdoin Street.
The case remains unsolved and her son's emotional scars, still deep.
"He still thinks he was supposed to die. And it hurts for you to hear your son say that," she said.
Boston police Sergeant Detective James Cullity is working the case, and he took Ward to Bowdoin Street to retrace the shooter's steps.
Disturbing surveillance video shows the moment the little boy was shot. Police believe the intended target was standing in front of a barber shop, and that it was a planned hit.
"We believe that he knew who he wanted to shoot, that he had seen the targets prior to the shooting," police say.
Authorities also say that before the shooting, the shooter parked a car over on the next road, Coleman Street, walked through a back alley, and then hopped up on a stone wall. It was there where he got in place and opened fire on the victims, but hitting the boy on the bicycle.
Police believe the shooter was driving a white Ford Fusion. Police and the young boy's mom are hoping someone steps up soon.
