BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 7-year-old child was among the victims of a shooting that took place Sunday in Dorchester, and Wednesday night he is finally back home.
The shooting happened on Bowdoin Street near Quincy Street late Sunday afternoon. Divan Silva, 7, was riding his bicycle when he was shot, according to Boston Police Superintendent in Chief William Gross. Silva was on his bike outside a barbershop, near his grandmother's house, and police believe the shooter may have intended to shoot someone standing in the doorway.
He was rushed to Boston Children's Hospital and was in the intensive care unit Sunday night after being shot in the buttocks. He was finally released Wednesday after several days in the hospital. Surrounded by cousins, his mother, and grandmother, Silva walked out of the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Hours before exiting, Silva had the chance to meet Patriot Rob Gronkowski, who stopped by Children's Hospital. Silva later talked to our Heather Hegedus, who says he was in amazing spirits.
