BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- FOX25's Sharman Sacchetti talked to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Thursday about the deflategate report and he says Brady may be targeted due to his success.
Christie defended Brady Thursday, calling him "one of the greatest champions of our time."
He went on to say, the Wells report "doesn't seem all that conclusive."
The governor says he is a Dallas Cowboys fan, but still a fan of Brady.
When asked is he thought Brady lied or cheated, Christie said, "No, listen, I have no reason to believe he lied or cheated."
Christie also said people in public life can become targets, adding "so here's Tom Brady, a great looking guy, wealth beyond imagination, married to Giselle Bundchen, and four Super Bowls. You know I think there's some people who just want to take a shot at Tom Brady because it seems like Tom Brady's life is just too perfect."
Christie was in New Hampshire Thursday and Friday as he weighs a presidential run.
This comes one day after an NFL appointed investigator found the Patriots likely deflated footballs and that Brady was at least generally aware of the violations.
When Sacchetti asked if he thought Brady could be tarnished by the scandal, he told her, "No I don't think it tarnishes Tom Brady's legacy. I don't think it tarnishes Bill Belichick's legacy, and I don't think it tarnishes Robert Kraft's legacy."
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh also defended Brady, telling Sacchetti, "There's no specific order Tom Brady gave to deflate footballs."
Walsh is a patriots season ticket holder.
