KEENE, N.H. (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in New Hampshire Monday. It's her first stop to the early primary state since announcing a run for the White House.
FOX25 political reporter Sharman Sacchetti was in the room where she held a small business roundtable.
Hillary Clinton won this state during the primary in 2008, and wants voters here to know she's not taking it for granted. But the event was heavily controlled, and came along with heavy security.
She kept most of the at a distance.
Clinton stopped into a bakery before touring and holding a discussion at a family-owned furniture company nearby.
Clinton said the economy had "stalled out," under President Obama, right away making her the target of Republican attacks.
She also played up her small business roots, adding that her father owned one.
And while the media were inside the room at Whitney Brothers, they were kept at a distance from the presidential candidate.
There were business leaders, politicians and supporters, sitting close by.
Clinton said it's time to take a deep breath to see what works when it comes to Social Security, and at one point she began to sound a bit like Senator Elizabeth Warren, when talking about building up the middle class, tackling student debt, and how the deck is stacked to favor those at the top.
"It's just wrong that a hedge fund manager has a lower tax rate than a nurse or a trucker or an assembly worker here at Whitney Brothers," she said.
There were few if any questions, during the roundtable, and when it was over, Clinton walked over to the pool camera only to answer just a handful of questions, including one on a book that alleges she and her husband received money in return for favors to foreign interests.
"The republicans seem to be only talking about me. I don't know what they'd talk about if I weren't in the race," she said. "But I'm in the race and I'm ready for that and hopefully we'll get onto the issues."
On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton is set to appear in Concord, where she's touring a community college and will take part in another roundtable with students and teachers.
