FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com/AP) - The prosecution has rested its case in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating his fiancée's sister. Lloyd was killed less than a mile from Hernandez's home.

Prosecutors' final witness on Thursday was a medical examiner who testified about Lloyd's injuries after being shot multiple times.

The trial has lasted more than two months.

Among the hundreds of pieces of evidence submitted is surveillance video that shows Hernandez holding what appears to be a gun less than 10 minutes after Lloyd's killing and a marijuana joint found near Lloyd's body with DNA from both men on it.

It's now the defense's turn to call witnesses, which will start Monday.

Judge Susan Garsh said Thursday that she expects the case to go to the jury by sometime next week. She reminded jurors to be extra careful not to discuss the case over the weekend.
