Jury examines models of bombs used in Boston Marathon attack

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (AP) - Jurors in the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have examined models of the pressure cooker bombs used in the 2013 deadly attacks.

FBI bomb expert Edward Knapp displayed the models Thursday in Tsarnaev's federal death penalty trial. Jurors then passed around the models and looked at the parts, including hobby fuse, a toggle switch and electronic speed controllers from remote-controlled cars.

Knapp says the FBI constructed the models from parts similar to those found at the scene of the twin bombings April 15, 2013.

Knapp says the bombs were "not too difficult" to build, using readily available parts and instructions easily found on the Internet.

Tsarnaev's lawyers have admitted that he and his late brother, Tamerlan, detonated the bombs, but they say Tamerlan was the mastermind.
