Judge to hold hearing on last-minute issues in Tsarnaev trial

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (AP) - The judge in the trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will hear last-minute arguments on legal issues that need to be settled before testimony begins in the federal death penalty case.

Judge George O'Toole Jr. has scheduled a hearing Monday to hear motions to limit certain kinds of evidence during the trial. It's unclear what's being requested because all the motions have been sealed from public view.

Tsarnaev is accused in the 2013 attack that killed three people and injured more than 260. Authorities say he and his older brother, Tamerlan, planned and carried out twin bombings near the finish line of the race. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police days after the bombing.

Opening statements in the trial are scheduled for Wednesday.
