No date set for start of Marathon bombing trial

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Jury selection in the Boston Marathon bombing trial continued Friday.

FOX25 was in court as two prospective jurors showed sympathy for accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarneav, which was a stark contrast to other potential jurors who have showed anger over the attack and sympathy for the victims and survivors.

One possible juror said she feels "sad" that Tsarneav would not have a chance for parole if found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. The same woman adamant that should could not consider the death penalty if Tsarnaev is convicted.

Another juror said he could understand how Tsarnaev could have been influenced by his older brother. One-hundred-ninety-three jurors have been questioned in 30 days. It is unclear if any have been picked.

Jury selection continues next week as well as another appeal hearing for a change of venue in the trial.

Late Friday, the outreach coordinator for the US District Court released the following statement: "While winter storms have impeded the completion of jury voir dire in U. S. v. Tsarnaev, the court has been making steady progress in identifying qualified jurors. Barring further weather-related delays, it is anticipated that the process will be completed in the near future. It is not possible yet to give a precise date when the trial proper will commence, but when we are able to set a reliable date, we will advise you."
