BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- On Thursday morning, a new team led by Governor-elect Charlie Baker, will take over on Beacon Hill.
Governor Deval Patrick chaired the final governor's council meeting Wednesday in the room where judges are confirmed, a place where he leaves a big imprint having appointed nearly 200 trial court judges and more than two dozen court magistrates. Indeed his legacy stretches across the state; some advances and some devastating management failures.
For now, this governor told our Political Reporter Sharman Sacchetti that he's ready to get his life back.
"It's not like I've been counting the days and minutes. It's just time. It's time for my family and it's time for me and I certainly do wish the incumbent governor and administration well," Patrick said.
Perhaps, but he won't be around to see incoming Republican Governor Charlie Baker's inauguration.
He says he's be, "getting on a plane going someplace warm."
As Patrick finishes out his last day, Senator Stanley Rosenberg started his first day as senate president, after being unanimously confirmed. He's coming off a scandal involving his partner who boasted about his influence over Rosenberg, forcing the senator to promise there would be no interference.
Rosenberg is pledging a bipartisan work ethic with the new republican governor.
"You just have to sit down, roll up your sleeves, you have to work through things, find common ground and build solutions," he said.
As his work begins, Sacchetti asked Patrick what about his job he'd miss least.
"Living life without the constant presence of security, going to the grocery store without a state trooper, kind of looking forward to it," he said.
