Coakley: I'll provide better agency oversight than Patrick

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Democratic candidate for governor Martha Coakley says if she were governor, she would provide better oversight of state agencies than Governor Deval Patrick.

Coakley made the comments to the Lowell Sun's editorial board.

When asked how she would be different from Patrick, Coakley said: "I don't think under a Governor Coakley you would have an Annie Dookhan," and "I don't think under a Governor Coakley you would have a New England Compounding."

So far, Coakley has not been critical of Governor Patrick, who remains popular in polls but has also struggled with management scandals.

Dookhan is the former chemist convicted of tampering with evidence and throwing tens of thousands of criminal cases into question.

She is also referring to the state regulated pharmacy that produced tainted drugs that later killed 64-people and made hundreds sick.

A campaign spokesman told FOX25 Political Reporter Sharman Sacchetti that Coakley was not trying to distance herself from the Governor.

He says she was just pointing out how she would bring law enforcement experience to the job.
