BOSTON (AP) — Attorneys for reputed Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger will soon reveal whether he will take the stand at his racketeering trial.

The defense has called its last witnesses and the judge has called a recess so that Bulger's defense team can talk with him. They are expected to reveal Bulger's plans when the recess is over.

On Thursday, defense attorney J.W. Carney Jr. indicated Bulger hadn't decided whether to testify.

The 83-year-old Bulger is accused in a broad racketeering indictment of participating in 19 murders in the 1970s and '80s while leading the Winter Hill Gang. He has pleaded not guilty.

Bulger fled Boston in 1994. He was one of the nation's most wanted fugitives until he was captured in Santa Monica, Calif., in 2011.
