BOSTON (AP) - A violent holiday weekend in Boston has left four people dead and about a dozen others suffering from gunshot and stab wounds.

Police say the mayhem that started Saturday culminated when two men were fatally shot in Dorchester just after midnight on Tuesday.

The men were apparently shot in their car, which then crashed into a building on Columbia Road.

One victim was fatally shot in Roxbury just after 7 p.m. on Monday, while another person was shot to death just before 10 p.m. in Dorchester in a violent eight-hour period that also left nine people injured.

No names were released.

Police say they are boosting patrols in violent city neighborhoods.
