FALL RIVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The trial of a New Bedford man charged for his role in a fatal stabbing outside a Fairhaven VFW hall is scheduled to start.
Opening statements in the trial of 22-year-old Thomas Opozda are expected to get under way in Fall River on Monday. Jury selection was last week.
Prosecutors say Opozda stabbed Robert Williams of Fairhaven twice with a pocketknife as the victim tried to break up a brawl outside the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on April 5, 2008.
Opozda allegedly gave the knife to Brandon Callender of New Bedford, who is accused of stabbing Joshua Fitzgerald of Fairhaven. Fitzgerald died.
Opozda has been held on $150,000 after pleading not guilty.
