ROCKLAND (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Authorities say a 36-year-old woman is dead after she was shot in a violent home invasion in Rockland. A second person was injured during the incident.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says Tina Gonsalves was shot in the abdomen inside her Concord Street home on Friday morning. She died from her injuries at South Shore Hospital more than five hours later.
Cruz and Rockland Police Chief John Llewellyn say the second person was dropped off at another hospital.
Cruz and Llwellyn said the incident does not appear to be random.
Llewellyn tells WATD-FM that a man broke into a back window of the house around 7:30 a.m., got into a scuffle with a man in a first-floor apartment and fired several shots, striking the woman.
Police investigators are looking for a gray 2011 Dodge Ram pick up truck with Massachusetts registration 822 JC2, which is believed to have been involved in this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Police at (508) 947-8087 or Rockland Police (781) 878-1212.
