SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Springfield police say a local high school soccer player has been killed at a city restaurant where more than 200 teens had gathered for a birthday party.
Police say 17-year-old Conor Reynolds, a senior at Cathedral High School in Springfield, died after being stabbed in the neck late Saturday. Another student was stabbed in the arm.
Police were seeking a suspect and had made no arrests as of Sunday afternoon.
Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney says more than 250 people, mostly teens, had gathered at Blue Fusion Bar and Grill for the party. He says no security was on hand and that many of the teens had been drinking before entering the club, which has no liquor license.
Police Commissioner William Fitchet says the suspect stabbed the unarmed teenage victims "with little or no provocation."
This information was supplied by law enforcement. All persons are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
