ROXBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A local woman is devastated after learning that a relative of hers was killed in the Charleston, South Carolina church shooting.
Ann Ravenell lives in Roxbury, but this week her heart is in her home state of South Carolina. Her cousin, the pastor of the church, was killed in the massacre Wednesday.
Ravenell may be sad about what happened to those victims in Charleston, but that doesn't make her bitter, she said.
"I forgive him, but I don't forget," she said. "But I forgive him. I have to forgive him. You know, I'm a Christian too and it's not for me to judge."
She says bigotry was a constant issue growing up in the south, but she doesn't see the shooting as a step back.
"God don't make mistakes," she said. "No. You know some good's going to come out of this. Watch and see."
