BOSTON (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- The deadly shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday has raised concerns about safety at local churches.
Churches and police departments are taking extra precautions the weekend after the shooting. FOX25 spoke with a national security expert, who explained the steps being taken to keep our sanctuaries safe. Precautionary steps include controlling access to parts of the church, staying alert to any potentially dangerous situation and engaging anyone who appears out of the ordinary.
The expert said a security system with surveillance cameras could also be helpful. At the South Church in Boston, it's a step that has already been taken.
The
Boston Herald reports that the Boston Police Department has stepped up patrols out of a general concern for copycat attacks at local churches.
