BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Red Sox player Pablo Sandoval will be benched Thursday night for violating social media policy during a game.

The third baseman will not be playing Thursday evening when the Sox take on the Braves . He admitted that he used his phone to like pictures on instagram during Wednesday night's game against the Braves.

Sandoval was apologetic for his actions, saying, "I let my teammates down. It ain't going to happen again. I'll take the punishment."

He also said he met with both Red Sox Manager John Farrell and General Manager Ben Cherington about the incident Thursday.

The Sox signed Sandoval to a 5 year, $95 million deal this off-season.
