MEDFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- You can own a piece of NFL history - for a minimum bid of $25,000.
Patriots fans Laura and Matt Nichols have made the ball available for auction at Lelands.com. Fans can bid starting July 18 at 9 p.m. The opening bid is $25,000.
The Nichols, who are from Medford, were cheering on the Patriots from the first row during the AFC Championship Game and were handed a ball by Patriots wide receiver Brandon LaFell after LeGarrette Blount's touchdown run in the third quarter.
Pictures of them in the stands, Laura's ticket stub and a letter explaining how they received the ball are all included on the auction site.
"Blount ran in for a touchdown, a 13-yarder, and then he dropped the ball, and he went to go celebrate with the Minutemen, when they were firing off their rifles," Matt said. "Brandon LaFell picked up the ball, and my wife pointed at him, and he pointed back at her with the ball and then gave it to her."
Upon realizing this was one of the footballs that was re-inflated at halftime, the couple realized how fortunate they were.
"Once we found that out, we knew we had a Deflategate ball," Matt told ESPN.com.
