Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner,
has made her debut as a woman. Here's what you need to know about Jenner, her transition and the upcoming cover story in Vanity Fair.
1. Jenner graces the July cover of the Vanity Fair. The 26-page cover story, written by Buzz Bissinger, features photos by Annie Leibovitz shot at Jenner's home in Malibu, California. According to the magazine, Bissinger spent "hundreds of hours" with Jenner and her family through the transition.“If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life. You never dealt with yourself,' and I don't want that to happen," Jenner told Bissinger.The magazine hits newsstands June 9.2. Jenner discussed the medical procedures she's had. Jenner told Bissinger that she had facial-feminization surgery in March.According to Mashable, she has also had a tracheal shave and breast augmentation. Jenner also started taking hormones in the 1980s and had electrolysis to remove facial and body hair. 3. Bissinger interviewed Jenner's four children from her first two marriages. Burt, 36; Cassandra, 34; Brandon, 33; and Brody, 31, said they've known about her identity as a woman for years. They are happy for Jenner and consider her an inspiration. "They all still see their dad as their dad regardless of any gender label," according to Vanity Fair. However, Jenner's children have refused to appear in the upcoming docu-series about her transition, "forgoing financial gain in favor of preserving their father's legacy."4. Jenner previously had a rocky relationship with her children. The article describes Jenner as an "insensitive father" who missed several milestones, including her daughter's birth, Mashable and Vanity Fair report. During her transition, Jenner planned "girls' nights" and opened up to other women, including her daughter. “We talked more than we ever have," Cassandra said. "We could just be girls together.” Burt added, "I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce. I'm very much looking forward to that."5.
