Boston man held on $250,000 bail in death of cyclist

BOSTON (AP) - A Boston man authorities say caused a traffic crash that killed an 18-year-old bicyclist has been held on $250,000 bail.

Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of 27-year-old Gregory McCoy on Wednesday to charges including motor vehicle homicide.

Prosecutors say McCoy, who does not have a driver's license, rear-ended a stopped vehicle Tuesday night in the city's Dorchester neighborhood, sending both careening through an intersection. One vehicle struck the cyclist, sending him flying, and killing him.

Authorities have not released the teen's name.

McCoy's passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were hospitalized.

Prosecutors say McCoy fled the scene on foot, with police following a blood trail to his mother's home less than a mile away.

Defense attorney Jeffrey Garland said McCoy understands he faces "very serious charges."
