MyFoxBoston.com/AP) -- The deflategate suspension could cost Tom Brady nearly $2 million in salary next season, but will being labeled a "cheater" impact his expensive endorsements?
Some say Brady may take a hit to his brand, which currently has an estimated net worth of $120 million. The quarterback has at least a half dozen endorsement deals, including Under Armor and Wheaties.
Dan Lebowitz, the Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Sports in Society at Northeastern University, says that although the scandal may hurt Brady, it won't define him.
Lebowitz says that as long as Brady stays in New England, it's likely he won't have anything to worry about, as most fans say they're standing by their quarterback.
The Patriots are standing by him as well.
"Tom Brady has our unconditional support," Patriots owner Bob Kraft said in a statement issued on Monday night. "Our belief in him has not wavered."
Brady will appeal his four-game suspension, his agent said, adding that the team threw its "unconditional" support behind its quarterback after the NFL came down hard on its biggest star in the "deflategate" scandal.
