Man allegedly threatens driver with knife, stun gun over road rage incident

Posted: Updated:
QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police say a man threatened someone with a knife and an electric stun gun over a road rage incident.

The victim says he was driving on the Merrymount Parkway with his two kids in the car when a blue Toyota Prius sped around the corner and almost hit him. As the victim continued driving, he said the Prius driver, John Carter, tailgated him all the way back to his home.

When the victim pulled up in front of his house, he said he got out of his car to confront Carter, who the victim said was holding a knife.

The victim then said he told Carter to "calm down" and Carter took out an electric stun gun, activating the gun and creating an arc of electricity. The victim said he called 911, which is when Carter left. The victim said he followed Carter from a distance so he could provide police with a location.

When police approached Carter at his home, Carter said he had gotten into an argument with another driver but denied that any weapons were involved. Carter later admitted to having a pocket knife in his pants and a stun gun in his car.

Carter was arrested for assault by means of a dangerous weapon and possession of a stun gun. He was scheduled for arraignment on May 6.
