Malini Basu joined the FOX25 News team in March 2015. Prior to joining FOX25 Malini spent three years at KHOU 11 in Houston as a lead story reporter.
While there, she covered breaking news and was dispatched to report on national stories. She has traveled from the Gulf Coast to the Mexican Border to cover a number of headline stories. Malini reported on the kidnapping of a young girl and was instrumental in her safe return to family in Texas.
Malini is no stranger to New England. Prior to Houston she worked at NBC Connecticut where she covered national stories like the Cheshire home invasion trial. Malini also worked as an Anchor/ Reporter at WLNE in Providence, R.I. where she broke exclusive details about the Craigslist killer.
Malini started her reporting career near the Canadian border at WPTZ, in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Malini has a B.A. in Communications and minor in Business from St. John's University. She grew up in Queens, New York. She speaks fluent Bengali and has spent several summers in India where her parents grew up before they emigrated to New York.
