Bruins look ahead to next season after missing playoffs

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (AP) - Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli and coach Claude Julien say they're doing their jobs as usual despite their uncertain futures.

For the first time in eight seasons, the Bruins missed the playoffs even though their 96 points were the most ever by a team that didn't reach the postseason. They lost their last three games and were eliminated on the final day of the regular season.

Chiarelli says the team looks at the whole season because points it gets or fails to get at any point are valuable.

He said Monday his uncertain job status after his ninth season with Boston hasn't affected exit interviews he's had with players.

Julien just completed his eighth season and says he's doing his job as usual.
