QUINCY, Mass. (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Norwell man injured in a car explosion was arrested after police say bomb making components were found in his vehicle and home.
Officers responded to the car explosion on Falls Boulevard in Quincy around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The driver of the car, 36-year-old Joseph Brennan, was taken to South Shore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
When officers observed Brennan's vehicle, they noticed suspicious materials. The Boston Bomb Squad was called to the scene and determined that the car contained various bomb making components.
Brennan was charged with illegal possession of components for a destructive or incendiary device. The suspect was arraigned on Monday from Brigham and Women's hospital.
Mass State Police and Norwell Police searched Brennan's home and found additional bomb making materials. Norwell Police filed the following charges against the suspect: three counts of possession of a destructive device and one count of possession of component parts capable of making a destructive device.
The investigation also spread to Hingham, where the Fire Chief told FOX25 that bomb making materials were found in the Back River Road home of 27-year-old Benjamin Young.
The explosives found in both homes were detonated by bomb squads. There has been no word on how the two men know each other.
