Woman crashes car into fence, arrested on drunk driving charges

DUMMERSTON, VT (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A woman was arrested on drunk driving charges after police say her car went off the road and struck a wooden fence.

Officers say 55-year-old Linda MacDonald of Shelburne, Massachusetts was driving south down Route 5 in Dummerston,Vermont around 10:30 p.m. on Monday when her Toyota Camry went off the paved roadway, striking and destroying the wooden fence.

MacDonald was not injured in the crash.

Police say that MacDonald explained to officers that she was lost and had been on the phone getting directions and writing them down on a legal pad at the time of the crash.

MacDonald was given a sobriety test at the scene of the accident and found to be intoxicated by officers. She was arrested and released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court for arraignment on April 28.
