BOSTON (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- Transit Police officers say that they approached a man for smoking near a "No Smoking" sign and discovered he was in possession of over $1,000 in stolen merchandise.
Officers say they noticed 30-year-old Jason Gachignard just before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday in the MBTA's Andrew Square station.
Police say Gachignard was smoking a cigarette within a clearly posted "No Smoking" sign. When officers approached him to issue a citation, they say Gachignard was found in possession of over $1,000 in stolen merchandise from Home Depot.
Gachignard was arrested on larceny charges and taken to Transit Police Headquarters.
