(AP Photo/WISN)FOND DU LAC, Wis. (MyFoxBoston.com/AP) — Authorities say a Wisconsin state trooper was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with a person who matched the description of a bank robbery suspect. Police said the suspect also was killed.
Fond du Lac police said late Tuesday that the incident occurred about 5:30 p.m.
Investigators say the gunman was driving a car with Massachusetts plates. It remains unclear where the gunman was from or if he had been driving his car.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice, which will be leading the investigation, said it was a "large and comprehensive" process but that it was too early to provide more information.
