EXEMPT: Yes LOCATION: WFXT - Boston DEPARTMENT: News POSTED: 12/18/14 _____________________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: It's a new era and exciting time at WFXT, the Fox affiliate in Boston, which currently produces 52 ½ hours of news each week. Cox Media Group recently acquired this previously Fox-owned station and is adding staff to the newsroom. As part of the newsroom positions being added, WFXT seeks an Executive Producer who will oversee station newscasts. The successful candidate will excel at owning breaking news and showcasing investigative/enterprise content. The Executive Producer will be responsible for crafting relevant, well-paced memorable newscasts that have high production value. The successful candidate must also understand news coverage on all platforms and use the station's website, mobile apps and social media platforms to bring viewers to on-air newscasts. A minimum of 7 years professional experience in local TV news is required for this job as well as at least 3 years' experience in a management role. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Oversees Producers and Writers. · Ensures that research points are implemented daily · Copy edits reporter scripts as needed · Copy edits newscasts · Insures integrity of newscast in all phases of writing and production · Makes sure content is executed on all platforms, including website and social media sites · Protects the station by making sure our stories are legally vetted and fair Employees accomplish their duties using safe work practices and equipment, while being responsible for reporting all injuries, observed unsafe conditions or practices to their leader.
