By Raquel Maria Dillon, Associated PressCOMPTON, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight turned himself in early Friday in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left one man dead and another injured.
The rap mogul's attorney said earlier that Knight ran over and killed a friend and injured another man on Thursday as he fled attackers. Authorities said Knight was a person of interest in the incident, which was being investigated as a homicide.
In a brief statement released early Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Knight was at the West Hollywood station with his attorney and was being interviewed by homicide detectives.
No other information was released and there was no mention if Knight was being held. Officials say that a red pickup truck struck the men at around 3 p.m. PST in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in the Los Angeles-area city of Compton and then took off. A 55-year-old man died at a hospital and a 51-year-old man was injured but Corina did not immediately know his condition.
