Maine nurse defies Ebola quarantine

Posted: Updated:
FORT KENT, Maine (AP) -- A nurse who promised to defy Maine's quarantine for health care workers who've treated Ebola patients has left her home again.

Kaci Hickox, who stepped outside to meet briefly with reporters Wednesday night, followed through with her promise by leaving her home Thursday.

She and her boyfriend left their home for a bike ride. Police were following her and monitoring her but couldn't' detain her without a court order signed by a judge.

Hickox contends there's no need for quarantine because she's showing no symptoms.

State officials were going to court in an effort to detain Hickox for the remainder of the 21-day incubation period for Ebola that ends on Nov. 10.
