Baby born barely bigger than a cell phone battling for her life

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- She's only four months old, but a little baby in North Carolina is in a battle for her life.

Adilynn Renee was born weighing less than a pound and was barely bigger than a cell phone.

She's survived four months, but it's been a tough road. Adilynn has had pneumonia twice, and a blood infection. She is not on life support.

"It took me by surprise, it really scared me," her mother Chelsea Gregory said. "I was like, how is she going to make it?"

"It's making her heart work extra hard. Her heart is trying to give out on her so they are having to give her medicine for it. Tons of medicines," she said. "Every little step that she makes is a huge accomplishment. Even turning her oxygen down one percent. I'm just blessed with it. I'll take it."

Though Adilynn's mom says her baby is a fighter, she is is asking everyone to pray for them.

"Honestly, there's nothing more in this world that means more than just one person praying," she said. "Almighty Lord I ask you to please surround my daughter by angels. Please give her the strength she needs to overcome this battle."

Last month, Adilynn was moved from Forsyth Medical Center to Brenner Children's Hospital. She was one of the smallest babies ever born at that medical center.
