DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas hospital where the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the U.S. died has defended its procedures and protocols.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital on Thursday said the facility followed federal guidelines in treating Thomas Eric Duncan.
The Liberian man last month flew to Dallas to visit family and friends. He was admitted to the hospital Sept. 28.
The hospital statement says Duncan was moved directly to a private room and isolated. Staffers wore appropriate personal protective equipment as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the time.
Duncan died Oct. 8. Two nurses contracted Ebola and remained hospitalized Thursday.
Federal health officials were being called before a congressional committee Thursday about the government's Ebola response.
National Nurses United has called for new mandates beyond existing CDC protocols.
