Gov. Patrick: Protocol was 'beautifully executed' in Logan Ebola scare

(MyFoxBoston.com) -- Governor Deval Patrick was joined by about a dozen officials across government and health agencies on Tuesday to address Ebola concerns.

Governor Patrick confirmed that there have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in Massachusetts.

"There is no cause for alarm, we've been coordinating well." the Governor said. "It's natural to be concerned about it, given the devastation that it has wrought."

Governor Patrick said that the Ebola protocol was "beautifully executed" at Logan Airport on Monday, where five individuals who displayed symptoms of Ebola were ultimately cleared of the virus. Massport Fire they had direct communication with the pilot of the plane where the five people were evacuated from, and responders used face shields, gowns, and gloves to assess the patients. Officials called the cooperation from the passengers "extraordinary."

The Governor said that he has been in communication with medical facilities and public safety officials to ensure that the state knows how to recognize and avoid Ebola.

Mayor Walsh added that there was no concern regarding Ebola being spread on the T.

A representative from The Department of Public Health said that the department has been working closely with infection control and have regular phone calls with medical facilities to make sure there's compliance.

The DPH representative said that Massachusetts was not identified specifically as a place to accept cases of U.S. residents evacuated from Africa with Ebola, but that the state was well prepared to deal with the virus.
