BOSTON (AP) - Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is wading into Massachusetts politics, endorsing Republican Charlie Baker for governor and Democrat Seth Moulton in the state's 6th Congressional District.
Bloomberg political adviser Howard Wolfson told The New York Times that Bloomberg wants to help elect candidates who are inclined to work with people across the political aisle.
Bloomberg plans to spend $25 million to aid candidates and ballot questions nationwide through his Independence USA political action committee.
In a written statement Wolfson said Baker will bring what he called "bold, innovative solutions to Massachusetts' most critical issues."
Baker said he welcomed the endorsement and shares what he calls Bloomberg's "brand of bipartisan fiscally responsible leadership."
Baker is facing Democrat Martha Coakley and three independent candidates.
Moulton is facing Republican Richard Tisei.
The election is Nov. 4.
