OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- A specially equipped plane carrying an American photojournalist who contracted Ebola while working in Liberia has landed in Nebraska, where he will be treated.
The plane carrying Ashoka Mukpo landed at Eppley Airfield in Omaha shortly before 8 a.m. Monday. It left Liberia Sunday evening and landed in Maine to refuel before making the journey's final leg.
Mukpo was working as a freelance cameraman for NBC News when he became ill last week. He will be treated at the Nebraska Medical Center's specialized isolation unit.
Mukpo is the fifth American to return to the U.S. after contracting Ebola during the latest outbreak in West Africa. A Liberian man with Ebola who started showing symptoms while visiting Dallas is hospitalized in critical condition.
