BEND, Ore. (
MyFoxBoston.com) --An Oregon couple's wedding photo taken with a wildfire in the distance is going viral.
April and Michael Wolber were preparing for their ceremony at the Rock Springs Ranch as the Two Bulls wildfire was growing nearby.
"All of my bridesmaids did a really good job keeping me calm and didn't even tell me about the fire until about 30 minutes before the wedding," said April.
Michael was waiting for his bride, but she wasn't walking down the aisle. Just as the ceremony was beginning, a fire engine approached with its sirens on.
"I'd call it an all-time low. It was announced that were going to be evacuated," said Michael.
The fire was too close to the ceremony so the wedding was canceled.
"To get to that final minute before it was going to happen and have everything feel like it was going to fall apart. It was a pretty crazy reality to be in," Michael explained.
The couple's parents pleaded with firefighters to let them do a quick ceremony. The firefighters soon changed their mind.
April and Michael did their ceremony in half the time, with a quick kiss and then off to the backup reception location. Before they left, their photographer snapped a photo that has gone viral, getting thousands of likes and shares on Facebook.
"The fire changed the plans of our day and completely changed the course of what we thought our wedding was going to look like. It was really neat to see us, and him especially, be able to turn it into a positive," said Michael.
The pair said they wouldn't change a single thing about their wedding.
