REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) --Police confirmed that family members of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are at a Revere hotel Friday and that the FBI brought them in.
Tsarnaev's family members landed at Logan Airport Thursday and are expected to testify in the death penalty phase of the marathon bombing trial next week. Revere Police Chief Joseph Cafarelli said their arrival is part of a federal operation and he was told six witnesses were brought in by the FBI. They were driven to the Hampton Inn in two white vans Thursday evening and now that all eyes are on the hotel, the management has several concerns.
The hotel has received cancellations, but didn't specify an amount. The manager just said, "enough to be concerned." She says their business is hurting since the family and media arrived. The hotel has requested a police detail in order to provide their guests with some reassurance. So far, the family has stayed out of sight.
Police say they just learned Thursday that the family members were coming to their city.
FOX25 has confirmed that Tsarnaev's mother was not on that flight and is not here in the US.
The Federal Public Defender's Office refused to comment on this case, so it's unclear who could be testifying.
Three people were killed and more than 260 injured when twin bombs exploded near the finish line on April 15, 2013. Tsarnaev was convicted of all 30 charges against him in connection with the bombings on April 8.
