Jury speaks out on decision to convict Hernandez

Posted: Updated:

FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Aaron Hernandez completed the first day of his life sentence Thursday, and now the jury that  convicted him in the murder of Odin Lloyd is telling CNN what lead to that bombshell decision.

The seven women and five men who deliberated for days say they know they made the right decision even if they say they can't be sure Hernandez was the actual trigger man in Lloyd's death.

They say he played a role in his death and that is what he was charged with. One juror talked about the chilling moment she came face to face with Hernandez, right after the verdict was read.

"I locked eyes with him. He shook his head," she said. "I thought, just look back at the judge. Look back at the judge."

Another juror says the surveillance video that shows the former football star with what they believed to be a gun in his hand is something she just couldn't look past.

"For him to be carrying a gun, what else is he capable of?" she asked.

A couple of other interesting notes from the interview, the jury found Hernandez's fiancee Shaynanna Jenkins' testimony to be "very forgetful" and say the defense contradicted itself during closing arguments when they said Hernandez was at the murder scene after saying he wasn't there earlier in the trial.
