BOSTON (
MyFoxBoston.com/AP) - One prospective juror in the trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has described to a judge her struggle to push aside a haunting image she has from the deadly attack.
The woman described a video that authorities say shows Tsarnaev placing a backpack containing a bomb near 8-year-old Martin Richard, one of three people killed when twin bombs exploded near the finish line in April 2013. The woman says she believes she can be fair but can't get that image out of her mind.
The process of picking a jury in the case continued Friday even as a federal appeals court considered a push by Tsarnaev's lawyers to move the trial out of Massachusetts. The court hasn't indicated when it will rule on Tsarnaev's change-of-venue request.
A court official released the following statement Friday evening, "Juror voir dire in the case of U.S. v. Tsarnaev will likely be concluded early next week, and the selection process will thereafter proceed to the parties' exercise of peremptory challenges. Additionally, it is likely that the Court next week will hear pending motions that need to be resolved before the commencement of the presentation of evidence. Opening statements are not expected until the following week. We will continue to provide updates as we are able."
