Jury selection in Tsarnaev trial continues

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- More than 215 people have been interviewed over 17 days in jury selection for the trial of accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The judge and lawyers for both sides took a particular interest in a few jurors Wednesday, questioning at least three people for a half hour or longer.

The quest continues for the court to find roughly 70 qualified jurors to make it to the next round of jury selection. As of last week, the judge had reportedly qualified more than 50 people to sit on the jury.

Both the defense and prosecution are now preparing for an appeals court hearing Thursday morning over whether the trial should be moved out of Boston. Last week, in a response to a second change of venue motion from the defense, the First Circuit Court of Appeals announced that a panel of three judges will hear arguments from both sides on whether to move the trial.

Each side will then have 20 minutes to make their case. Jury selection will continue in US District Court once the hearing concludes.
