BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The 6th district race is heating up between Republican Richard Tisei and Democrat Seth Moulton. The race is so close, yet one party is so confident it's pulling its ad dollars.
With just under three weeks left, Moulton, an Iraq war vet, is going after Tisei on veterans issues and his Beacon Hill record.
"The fact of the matter is Richard Tisei voted against veterans when he voted against funding in the 2009 budget. He voted against disabled veterans, he voted against funding for the department of veterans' services. That's not what we need right now," Moulton said.
It's a charge Tisei calls misleading and accused Moulton of playing games.
"I would say what he's talking about is a $27 billion budget that I voted against, not only did I vote against, I led the opposition to it because it included almost a billion dollars in sales tax, gas tax and meals tax," Tisei said.
In the meantime, Tisei's campaign pointed out that national Democrats are pulling more than $400,000 out of this race.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which helps Democrats get elected to Congress, says they're focusing the funding on other races because Moulton is "in a strong position to win," and their poll shows he's ahead.
Tisei doesn't think so.
"I think we've had four polls in a row that have had us ahead so maybe they've pulled out for other reasons you never know," Tisei said.
When FOX 25 Political Reporter Sharman Sacchetti asked Moulton wished he had more funding from the national party, the Democrat said, "This is a grassroots campaign. We're going to win this by getting grassroots support. That's how we got this far and that's how we're going to win on Nov. 4."
Moulton is trying to convince voters that Tisei is a career politician and he is something new, while Tisei is sending the message that he'll bring balance in the Commonwealth and change in Washington.
The race remains close.
