BOSTON (AP) — Jurors in the Boston racketeering trial of reputed crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger have resumed deliberations for a third day.
The federal jury went back into a room to continue deliberations Thursday after asking some legal questions a day earlier.
On Wednesday, jurors
asked if they had to make unanimous findings on each of the 33 criminal
acts included in a racketeering charge. Those 33 acts include 19
murders.
Judge Denise Casper told jurors
they had to be unanimous on whether prosecutors have proven or not
proven each act. But she also told them they could choose to make no
finding on certain acts if they cannot agree.
On Thursday, the judge granted a request from prosecutors to urge jurors to try to make findings on each racketeering act if they "can do so conscientiously."
