WESTPORT (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Westport man was arrested on Sunday after police accused him of stealing metal materials from the roof of a local school in hopes of selling them to a local scrap yard.

Maintenance staff for the school system noticed several roof vents, window screens, and other metals had been stolen overnight from the roof of the Alice A. Macomber School on Gifford Road. Police were notified and obtained three sets of footprints left by the suspects.

During their investigation, police noticed some of the stolen items had been left outside of a home across the street. After interviewing the homeowner, police obtained a search warrant and found all of the stolen items inside the home.

The resident of the home, 37-year-old Bradford Desrosier now faces charges of larceny over $250 as well as defacing property. A female resident also admitted to helping Desrosier in the theft. She allegedly told police she helped in order to feed a drug addiction. Police say she will be facing the same charges.

According to police, Desrosier also admitted he was fueling his own drug habit and planned to sell the items to a scrap yard.
