Teacher accused of 'sexting' student

CHICOPEE, Mass. - A male teacher at Chicopee High School has been suspended and is under police investigation after being accused of sending sexual text messages to a 15-year-old female student.

Police Chief John Ferraro Jr. did not release the teacher's name or age.

He says the teacher was removed from class Tuesday and questioned by police and school officials. He received an unpaid suspension on Thursday.

Superintendent Richard Rege Jr. says the teacher is accused of sending sexual photos and text messages to the student several times starting in March. There is no evidence of any physical contact.

The messages were brought to school officials' attention by the student's family earlier this week.
